Multi-Faith Officer (MFO) Services
Curtin's Multi-Faith Officer Service
Multi-Faith Officer (MFO) service is a well integrated service freely available to students and staff as part of life here at Curtin University. It is a confidential service that seeks to meet your needs within the university context. MFO's understand both the religious domain and university life, and are able to form a unique bridge between the two.
The University Multi-Faith Officer is the co-ordinating officer who has overall responsibility for the service. This is a multi-faith role fitting with the multi-cultural dynamics of university life. The University MFO provides a liaison between university life and a wide diversity of religious and spiritual groups.
The Visiting Chaplains each represent their own religious tradition on campus, and offer interactions appropriate to that tradition.
What is a Multi-Faith Officer's Role?
A Multi-Faith Officer's role is to encourage you to explore the spiritual dimensions of life in order that you might:
- develop more fully as a person;
- search for meaning;
- seek new directions in living; and
- find ways of addressing some of life's big questions.
You do not need to belong to a religious group to see a chaplain. In fact, most of those who seek out the services of a chaplain come because they have questions for which they wish to find answers.
Locations
There are three MFO locations on the Bentley campus:
- The University Multi-Faith Officer's office is in the Student Guild Building 106 . Access is through the Student Guild reception.
- The Visiting Chaplains' Offices share an office with the MFO. When on campus, each of the Visiting Chaplains can be contacted here.
- There is a dedicated prayer space for Moslems. This is the Moshalla (Building 510) which is located towards the southern end of the campus. This building has appropriate ablution facilities and is freely accessible to students and staff at all times for prayers. If you experience any difficulties gaining entry into this building, you should contact the University MFO during office hours. Outside office hours, please contact University security (phone 9266 4444).
