University Counselling Service

The University Counselling Service exists to help students and staff get the most from their time at Curtin. Experienced staff provide a safe professional environment to deal with any issues affecting your work or study.
UCS_Waiting Room

As a client of the Counselling Service, you can expect:

  • To be treated with respect - including respect for your language, culture, religion and sexuality.
  • That the service provided is competent, professional and ethical; and free of any harassment.
  • To be aware that the service focuses on short-term therapy approaches, and that this will usually involve a limit of 10 counselling sessions available to you each year.
  • That your counsellor will discuss the types of counselling options available and the duration of these.
  • To receive a clear explanation on the confidentiality of personal information about you held by the service.
  • To receive your individual counselling sessions free of charge.

The Counselling Service Team

All counsellors are well qualified professionals from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and qualifications, including counselling psychology, clinical psychology, social work and occupational therapy. The University Counselling Service is a multi-cultural organisation whose staff are used to cross-cultural issues and the difficulties linked to being away from home.
